TRANSCEND: A NETWORK FOR PEACE AND DEVELOPMENT
has as mission: to bring about a more peaceful world, using action, training, dissemination and research to handle conflicts with nonviolence, empathy and creativity, for acceptable and sustainable outcomes.
TRANSCEND International is the networking of members and regional centers with conveners, and an underlying philosophy.
Members are more than 300 invited scholars/ practitioners from more than 60 countries, with regional centers.
Among the TRANSCEND programs are mediation-conciliation and peace-building, guided by manuals and code of conduct, to arrive at perspectives for conflict solutions. For training there is the TRANSCEND Peace University (TPU) on-line and on-site, and for research the TRANSCEND Research Institute. A TRANSCEND Conflict Service and a TRANSCEND Media service will follow.
TRANSCEND International is incorporated in Hawai'i, tax-exempt, with By-laws, a General Assembly every two years, and a Board of Conveners. For TPU and TRI there are separate boards.
TRANSCEND charges for training but as peace and development concern basic needs any patenting-profit is immoral. TRANSCEND's capital is the human skill, knowledge, experience of the members the social network capacity to generate teams for specific tasks and political: no hidden agenda, complete autonomy.
